State funding received for Wooster Pike improvements project TOhio announced funding for more than two dozen transportation projects that will support ongoing economic development across Ohio. The Ohio Department of Transportation, through its Office of Jobs and Commerce, is awarding $8.9 million in Transportation Improvement District Program funding to support 26 projects in 19 counties. The roadwork projects will provide access to developable land, create easier access to existing businesses and alleviate traffic congestion around commercial areas. Around $188,000 in funding will go to Wooster Pike improvements. The construction project in the city of Medina includes a southbound right turn lane on state Route 3/Wooster Pike Road. West Smith Road closure West Smith Road in Medina will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The road will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first closure will be at the double railroad crossing adjacent to 870 W. Smith Road. The second closure will be at the single railroad crossing between Commerce Drive and Lake Road. The closures will be completed one at a time. The second closure will not begin until the first closure is completed. The closure is necessary for immediate repairs to the two railroad crossings. West Smith Road will be open to all businesses on each side of the tracks at all times, but no traffic will cross the work zone during the closure period. Detours and barricades will be set up and maintained throughout the closure period. Other road closures throughout Medina County Fenn Road in Medina Township between Pearl Road and Thomas Lincoln Parkway will be closed from Monday through Wednesday morning for bridge maintenance. Mattingly Road in Hinckley Township will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for guardrail replacement between River Road and Ridge Road. Neff Road in Liverpool Township between Abbeyville Road and Muntz Road will be closed from Monday through Wednesday morning for bridge maintenance. River Styx Road in Montville Township between Country Club Drive and Trails End Drive will be closed from Monday through Wednesday morning for bridge maintenance.
