John C. Gillette

John C. Gillette of Wadsworth, born in Akron, Ohio, in 1939 to Dr. E.K. and Roberta Gillette, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Born and raised in Ghent, Ohio, he graduated from Revere High School in 1958 and Akron University in 1962, where he was a member and President of Lone Star Fraternity and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa. He married Barbara Hixson, his high school sweetheart, in 1962. His professional career included working for an international accounting firm and Miami University before buying a family business in Medina, Ohio. He retired in 1998 after 27 years as President of Gasko Fabricated Products. He was formerly a member of Medina Morning Kiwanis, Board President of the Medina YMCA, and board member and treasurer of the Medina Summit Land Conservancy. He continued to support land conservancy throughout his life. He was a member of Snappers Brass and Gas, an antique automobile car club for 1916 and older cars. Nothing gave him more pleasure than taking a 2,000-mile vacation driving a 100-plus-year-old car. His retirement was filled with the joys of traveling with his high school sweetheart to many places of wonder on this earth, watching his three children develop in their independent lives, the growth of his four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and working on antique cars. He leaves his sister, Alice (Jerry) Weiner of Cleveland; his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara; son, Ken;, and daughter Shelley in Wadsworth; son, Lee in Brussels, Belgium; three granddaughters; a grandson; five great-grandchildren; and antique car friends around the country. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled.
