Barbara Ann Kovalchik

Barbara Ann (Grauel) Kovalchik, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Medina, Ohio. She was born August 18, 1931, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Harry and Molly (Feasel) Grauel. Barbara graduated from Kenton High School, class of 1949, and went on to attend Capitol University where she achieved her bachelor's degree in music, and Akron University where she achieved her teaching degree. Barbara taught piano lessons and then went on to teach at Kidder Elementary School in Brunswick, Ohio, followed by her position teaching in Medina at Garfield and Sidney Fenn Elementary Schools for over 21 years. Barbara was an active member of United Methodist Church where she actively participated and supported several church groups there. Barbara loved to play bridge and looked forward to spending time in Florida each year when they traveled to their winter home there. She enjoyed her time as a 'snowbird' each year escaping the winter months. She was a gifted pianist and organist and enjoyed playing them both. Anyone who knew her was aware that she always put her family first and supported them in all their endeavors. Barbara married the love of her life, William Kovalchik on June 25, 1955, together they raised three sons, Dale of Medina, Ohio, Brent (Juliet) of Red Hook, New York, and Thad (Cindy) of Medina, Ohio; she had three grandchildren, Jackson, Paige (Tim), and Sam. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Kovalchik; her parents, Harry and Molly (Feasel) Grauel; and her younger brother, James Grauel of Kenton, Ohio. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, Ohio. A private burial will take place where Barbara will be laid to rest in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens next to her beloved, William in Brunswick, Ohio.
