Medina to commemorate Paul Revere's ride for America250 kickoff Medina will host Two Lights for Tomorrow, a nationwide initiative to commemorate Paul Revere's ride. It is part of America250, which celebrates the country's 250th anniversary. Visitors of all ages are invited to gather with their lanterns in the Medina Square at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Medina library is hosting a craft project for children, so they can make their own lantern to bring to the park. On Friday, there will be a reading of the poem "Paul Revere's Ride," which portrays the fictionalized version of the event. Then an actor portraying William Dawes will tell the real story. Paul Revere will make an appearance looking for the signal lights in the church tower. The residents of Medina are asked to join the nation in leaving two lights burning in their homes through Friday night to help commemorate the ride. They are also asked to complete some type of community service on Saturday. Medina County receives funds from the 2025 Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund Gov. Mike DeWine announced $3 million in funding for 38 local law enforcement agencies to help their drug task forces. Grants from the 2025 Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund will support drug task forces in their work to prevent drug trafficking, pharmaceutical diversion and other organized criminal activity associated with the drug trade. The Medina County Drug Task Force received approximately $92,000. United Way to host 211medina.org database training United Way of Summit and Medina is hosting a free 211medina.org database training from 10:30 a.m. to noon on May 13. The website has local resources for people in need. The training is open to anyone but can be helpful for home visitors, case managers and school or hospital employees. Medina County Park District event The Medina County Park District will have a hike along the Brunswick Lake Trail from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. The group will meet at the Susan Hambley Nature Center. The event is for ages 10 and older. No registration is required for the free event.
