The Back Nine Golf simulator opens in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — The Back Nine Golf celebrated opening its Brunswick location with a "par-tee" on Thursday. Ann Marie Fisher is the franchise owner. She worked in sales and marketing prior to becoming a business owner, but she had the desire to open her own business ever since she was young. "I was talking to a friend's husband about golf simulators," she said. "People that love golf really get obsessed with it, and there's not a lot like this in the community. I thought about doing it myself, but then I found the Back Nine franchise." The company started in Utah a few years ago and is now in 38 states as of this year, Fisher said. The Brunswick location is the first in Ohio but more are anticipated to open in the region soon. "I like the business model part of it," she said. "It's like a little community because my members here are getting to know each other." The Back Nine is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Fisher said. "Everything is done online," she said. "Whether you just drop-in for an hour or if you're a member, you go to the website or the app, and you book a tee time. You get a door lock code on your phone, so when it's 15 minutes before your tee time, it'll activate." There are multiple bays featuring a touch-screen computer and a screen. Fisher said golfers can customize the conditions of the simulated golf course. Players then hit the ball at the screen, and each hit is tracked and scored by the computer. "Everybody's just been pumped about it coming," she said. "Guys that love to golf are like, 'Oh my God, it's amazing.'" Fisher said her goal is to further expand and open more Back Nine franchises in the Medina area. "I love Brunswick, and I grew up here," she said. "I was just happy that I could bring it here.
