ODOT announces upcoming construction projects in Medina County

Road work projects will be occurring across Medina County this summer as part of the Ohio Department of Transportation's 2025 construction program. On Thursday, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced its 213 projects in 17 counties in Northeast Ohio. There are 172 new projects in the region for 2025. There will be resurfacing work along state Route 18 from Nettleton Road to Windfall Road and along state Route 57 from the state Route 252 and Spieth Road roundabout to just south of Tower Road. Work is anticipated to be from August until June 2026, and it is an approximately $2.3 million project. Resurfacing also is expected to occur along Interstate 71 from Boston Road to just south of the state Route 18 interchange from May until November at a cost of about $12.2 million. From May until September, concrete pavement repairs are anticipated along U.S. Route 224 from Lake Road to the I-71, I-76 and U.S. 224 interchange. The cost for the project is approximately $2.3 million. There are plans for embankment repairs along I-271 southbound just east of State Road at a cost of around $1 million. Work is estimated to be from August to October. U.S. 42 and U.S. 224 will have bridge repairs at the structure over Greenwich Road. Work is expected to happen between July and October, and there will be a 30-day detour at some point. It is a $877,000 project. Some construction projects have begun such as the bridge replacement along state Route 18 between state Route 83 and Bryenton Road. The approximately $4 million project started in October 2023 and is anticipated to be complete in August. Lighting replacement at the I-76 and state Route 261 interchange started in January. The $325,000 project is likely to be finished in May 2026. "This year we will see a very significant investment in our transportation infrastructure," ODOT Director Pamela Boratyn said. "One that will improve safety, reduce traffic fatalities and keep people and goods moving efficiently. Every project we break ground on is a step toward a stronger, safer and more connected future for Ohio."
