David Njoku, Jerome Ford, Pierre Strong Jr. put on IR as Browns make series of roster moves

The Browns (3-13) needed healthy bodies for the finale Saturday in Baltimore, so they made a series of roster moves Friday.Tight end David Njoku (knee) and running backs Jerome Ford (ankle) and Pierre Strong Jr. (concussion) were placed on injured reserve. They had been ruled out Thursday for the matchup with the Ravens (11-5).Bailey Zappe to start at QB in finale vs. RavensReceiver Kaden Davis, defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour and safety Christopher Edmonds were signed to the active roster from the practice squad. Cornerback Kahlef Hailassie and running back Jacob Kibodi were elevated from the practice squad for the game.Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (knee) was downgraded to out. He was injured Wednesday in practice, didn't practice Thursday and had been listed as questionable.The Browns will be without key players at a variety of positions. Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward (shoulder) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (concussion) were ruled out Thursday, and receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) was placed on IR earlier in the week.Myles Garrett, Jerry Jeudy, Denzel Ward picked for Pro BowlNjoku started 11 games and caught 64 passes for 505 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns. Ford appeared in 14 games with six starts, leading the team with 565 rushing yards. He had three rushing touchdowns and caught 37 passes for 225 yards. Strong played in 14 games with 108 rushing yards and 104 receiving yards.Davis (6-foot-1, 193 pounds) was originally undrafted out of Northwest Missouri State in 2022 and has yet to play in a regular-season game.Dwumfour (6-1, 296) has played in 12 career games with the Texans and 49ers.Zone Coverage PodcastEdmonds (6-2, 210) is an undrafted rookie out of Arizona State, spent the entire season on Cleveland's practice squad and appeared in one game.With Ford and Strong joining Nick Chubb (foot) on IR, the Browns signed John Kelly Jr. early in the week and elevated Kibodi (6-1, 225) to join D'Onta Foreman at running back.
