Hinckley gives timeline for transition to Rumpke for trash services

HINCKLEY TWP. — Hinckley residents will switch from Kimble Recycling and Disposal Inc. to Rumpke Waste and Recycling as their trash provider starting in early 2025. The Hinckley Township Board of Trustees went over the timeline for the transition between the two companies during its meeting Tuesday. Trustee Monique Ascherl said Rumpke will send out a mailer to Hinckley residents, which will have answers to frequently asked questions and go deeper into their services. The mailer should be sent out the first week of January. There will be a QR code on the mailer, which residents can scan if they are interested in upgrading from the 65-gallon recycling bins to the 95-gallon recycling bins at no extra cost, she said. Those who are interested would need to fill out the online survey by Jan. 16. Rumpke is tentatively planning to start delivering carts during the week of Jan. 27, Ascherl said. It will take around three to four days for everyone to get a new cart. "They're going to be delivered just like Kimble did at the end of your driveway," she said. "When you get those, they're going to have a little hanger on all the cans saying do not use until Feb. 1. You're going to get those carts a week in advance." Kimble's final pickup is on Jan. 31, Ascherl said. After the final pickup, residents should leave their Kimble cart at the end of their driveway, so it can be picked up by Kimble at some point in the following week. "Don't add any more trash to your Kimble cart after they pick up on Jan. 31," she said. "That's when you can start putting everything in the Rumpke bin." Rumpke's first pickup will be on Feb. 7, Ascherl said. Trash day for Hinckley will continue to be on Fridays beginning at 7 a.m., and the holiday schedule will mirror what Kimble did in the past. Residents who have questions, issues and complaints regarding Rumpke should contact the company directly, she said. "Rumpke will be having a meeting every Monday morning that they are scheduling specifically for Hinckley Township to see to any issues that happen," Ascherl said.
