Ohio Traffic Safety Office awards grants to Medina County organizations The Ohio Traffic Safety Office awarded more than $24 million for statewide programming to improve traffic safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities. The Medina County Sheriff's Office received about $90,000 for impaired driving and selective traffic enforcement. The Medina County Health Department received $46,200 for its safe communities program. "These grants will support the ongoing efforts in Ohio to save lives and reduce injuries on our roads," Gov. Mike DeWine said. "From raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving to increasing enforcement to take impaired drivers off the streets, these programs will contribute to making the roads safer for everyone." Brunswick High School musicians perform at Severance Hall with Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra Brunswick High School students Luca Brusco and Sam Haskell recently showcased their musical talents by performing with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra at Severance Hall. Brusco and Haskell went through competitive auditions to join the youth orchestra. They also take part in the Brunswick High School Orchestra under Valerie Roman and the Marching Blue Devils led by Samuel Portzer. "Their achievement in earning a place in (Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra) through competitive auditions speaks volumes about their talent, character and commitment to excellence," Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer said. "What makes their accomplishment even more meaningful is how they have balanced this prestigious opportunity with their responsibilities as high school students and leadership roles in BHS music programs. They exemplify the well-rounded excellence and dedication we hope to inspire in all our students."
