Charles 'Rusty' K. Bohan

Charles 'Rusty' K. Bohan, 82, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, in Memory Care at Brookdale Medina South. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, December 1, 1941, to Charles and Sarah Bohan, the youngest of ten children. A veteran, Rusty served in Vietnam from 1964-1965. His time in the Army can be summarized by the quote on his vintage Zippo lighter 'When I die I am going to Heaven. I spent my time in Hell'. Despite the fact that she ate a fried egg sandwich with RAW ONION on their first date, Rusty married Mary Clare Gerrity in 1972. They shared 35 years of marriage and raised two daughters before her sudden passing in 2007. At times, it felt that Rusty had been marking time in this life until he could be reunited with Mary in the next. Rusty provided for his family through his career as a long-distance truck driver and was a proud Teamster at the time of his retirement. 'Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around'. Before age robbed him of his mind and diminished his eyesight, Rusty was an avid gearhead, a fan of Western movies, and NCIS, a big consumer of Entenmann's chocolate donuts, and the very best storyteller. He is missed beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Clare; parents; and siblings. He is survived by the biggest joys of his life, his daughters, Ellen Glenn (Micheal), and Samantha (Matthew Trent); and extended family, and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and caretakers at Brookdale Medina South for their compassion and sense of humor in providing excellent and consistent care to Rusty in his final years.
