Little Busy Beez Early Learning Center opens in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Quawuna Good developed a firsthand passion for child care early on as the youngest child of 10 with more than 40 nieces and nephews. Good opened her first Little Busy Beez Early Learning Center in Northfield in November 2020. Kawana Ali, who does marketing for the company, said Good is familiar with the Brunswick area and decided to open her second location at 1480 Pearl Road while she was driving through the city. "We want to give back and actually tie in and really invest in the city of Brunswick," Ali said. Little Busy Beez provides child care services for children between the ages of six weeks old and 12 years old on a full or part-time basis, she said. Classes have hands-on and play-based learning, which focuses on creativity and social interaction. "Because we understand kids don't sit still, the learning takes that into account," Ali said. "No child is left feeling maybe I'm doing something wrong because I can't sit still. We accommodate that." Brunswick's location has a capacity of 200 students meaning there could be well over 50 employees who work there, she said. The center is currently enrolling students, and around 16 children of all ages have already been signed up. "We give (parents) a tour, and then we'll sign you up from there," Ali said. "Based on different economic situations, there are different resources available for each parent, so there is a space for every child at every economic level." The Northern Medina County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Little Busy Beez on Tuesday. Executive Director Debbie Boehmke described the center as a "vibrant addition" to the community. "We know that with your dedication to quality child care and early education, you're going to enrich the community in which we have here," she said. "It's going to support all of our families and definitely contribute to the ongoing economic growth that we have in our area." The goal is to reach as many children as possible, Ali said. Since each center has a building capacity, the objective is to take Good's business model and spread it throughout other communities. "It is my hope that every child that passes through this facility leaves with such a foundation of community, a foundation of civic-mindedness, to where they want to give back to the community," she said. "They want to engage with the community, and not just be a generation of children who are plastered to their phones. We want them to know that they have great potential to make things happen."
