U.S. Rep. Max Miller shares bills and projects he's advocating for that impact his district

U.S. Rep. Max Miller, R-Rocky River, described the bills and projects he is advocating for in Congress, many of which affect the environment in his district. Recently, Miller introduced a piece of bipartisan legislation called the Impact Act 2.0. He said the legislation intends to increase innovation and manufacturing for low-emissions concrete, cement and asphalt production by making it easier for producers to safely and effectively implement it. "It also makes sure that the cement, concrete and asphalt that literally make up the things that we build here in Ohio (District) 7, across the state and the country, are just a little bit cleaner," he said. "This is one of the things, as the subcommittee chairman of environment on science, space and technology, that we do to take care of our environment and the climate." There are also multiple projects Miller said he is advocating for as part of the 2024 Water Resources Development Act, such as the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Little Killbuck Creek aquatic invasive species prevention program. "The projects focus on reducing flood and storm damage, improving navigable channels and restoring water and wastewater systems to improve public safety and economic security," he said. "Nine out of the 11 projects that I submitted were approved when the House passed the bill last week, and I'm going to continue to advocate for the Senate to take up the bill with these critical Ohio projects that are included in it." Miller said he supports the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act as well and considers it to be "great policy for Northeast Ohio." "(It) would safeguard our water quality, restore habitats in Lake Erie and enhance environmental health for our district," he said. Another priority of his is the farm bill. Miller said he believes another extension will be put on it if it is not brought to the floor prior to the deadline in September. "Our farmers and producers need an updated farm bill that meets the moment and addresses the multitude of challenges that they're facing every single day," he said.
