Brunswick Hills encourages residents to take comprehensive plan survey

BRUNSWICK HILLS TWP. — Brunswick Hills is looking for residents' input on what they like about the township and what they would like to see change. Trustee Trica Murphy said Brunswick Hills is updating its comprehensive plan for the first time since 2005, and it is supposed to show the vision for the township. A community survey is part of the process to determine what is important for people. "It's all based on what the residents want and other stakeholders such as large landowners and business owners …" she said. "Do they want green space? Do they want more development? Do they want more industry or retail?" To take the survey online, visit tinyurl.com/yc79bast. Murphy said it will close on Aug. 19, and Brunswick Hills intends to provide paper copies at township buildings like town hall. "We have the steering committee, and although that is a group of residents, we want to open it up to everybody, so everybody has input," she said. "Even though they are not actually on the committee, they can help be part of it." Once the survey ends, community planners from Mackin Engineers and Consultants will go over the results with the steering committee. Murphy said the results will help shape the direction of the comprehensive plan update. "Maybe the vision is exactly the same or maybe it's changed a little or maybe it's changed a lot (since 2005)," she said. "That's why it's so important to get that survey out there." The steering committee will continue to meet over the course of the next year, Murphy said. Brunswick Hills expects that within the next 15 to 18 months, it will have a completed comprehensive plan update. "I'm excited to get this going because I've been working to get this going for the last two and a half years, just getting to this process," Murphy said. "We've already had a lot of responses to the survey, so it's great to know that people want to get their voice out there."
