Ring-a-ding-ding -- Sinatra Selects set for ORMACO debut 7/6 at Medina Square

Ring-a-ding-ding, Cleveland native Lou Armagno is keeping the music of Frank Sinatra alive and well in Northeast Ohio. Joining the popular tribute singer for a Sinatra Selects show at Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach's Jazz Under the Stars series this Saturday (July 6) at the Uptown Park Gazebo is vocalist Dianne Palmer. "This will be an evening of well-known Sinatra favorites that continue to capture the hearts of millions," ORMACO Executive Director Thomas Sigel said. "This highly acclaimed duo, backed by four fabulous musicians, will delight with wonderful solo numbers and fun-loving duets." Making its Medina-area debut, Sinatra Selects will be performing gems from Old Blue Eyes' cherished catalog such as "Ring-a-Ding-Ding!," "Luck Be a Lady" and "That's Life." "This is a compilation of all of Frank Sinatra's hits — he had a gazillion of them," said Palmer, who lives in Beachwood. "There will also be really delightful duets." A regional big band singer around the Greater Cleveland area for years, Palmer is known for her other vocal group 3 Birds and The Wire, which she said will be making its ORMACO debut next season. As for crossing paths with Armagno, Palmer said she performed with him for years before presenting the duet show idea. "I thought it would be kind of cool if we could work together because I used to do another Frank show," she said. The list of duets includes "I Won't Dance" and a mashup of "Satin Doll" with "Makin' Whoopee," as well as a cover of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers' "Cheek to Cheek." "It's absolutely a delightful show that's smile-producing," she said. "It's also interactive because I like to work with the audience. It's all the music that they know, so it's a fun night.
