Brunswick, Brunswick Hills and Hinckley police blotter for June 20

Brunswick police Wednesday, June 12 9:03 a.m. — 10 block of Pearl Road; dispatch received information from Strongsville police regarding Christopher Hampton, 29, of Cleveland, on an outstanding traffic warrant. Brunswick police took custody of him. He had multiple warrants out of other agencies and was transported to the Medina County Sheriff's Office without incident. 7:28 p.m. — West Third Street, Cleveland; Phillip Thomas III, 55, of Brunswick, was being released by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and found to have an active Medina Municipal Court traffic warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Medina County Jail. 7:42 p.m. — 3800 block of Center Road; Meijer staff allege Justin Ramos, 35, of Akron, wheeled a grocery cart of unpaid merchandise out of the store and abandoned it when confronted. He then left in a vehicle. An officer stopped Ramos, and he was arrested on charges of shoplifting. He was later incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. Thursday, June 13 4:48 p.m. — Boston Road; police served a warrant for a 16-year-old. He was taken into custody and transported to the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center. 9:50 p.m. — Memphis Avenue; police responded to the Brooklyn Police Department to take custody of Hannah Kaschalk, 23, of Seven Hills. She had two active failure to appear warrants out of Medina Municipal Court. She was taken into custody and transported to the Medina County Jail without incident. Friday, June 14 2:22 a.m. — Maxwell Boulevard/Center Road; a traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with operator Aaron Goliat, 24, of Brunswick. The officer could smell an alcoholic beverage, and Goliat was taken into custody after showing impairment on the standardized field sobriety tests. He submitted a breath test, which yielded a result of 0.150 blood alcohol content. He was issued citations into Brunswick Mayor's Court and released. 6:31 a.m. — 1600 block of Pearl Road; an abandoned bicycle was found in the Drug Mart parking lot. 6:17 p.m. — 3500 block of Center Road; Mia Weber, 21, of Akron, had a felony warrant for identity theft out of the Medina County Sheriff's Office. She was turned over to a Medina County deputy without incident. Saturday, June 15 9:29 a.m. — 3800 block of Center Road; officers responded to a report of theft from Meijer. Contact was made with Eric Archual, 48, of Akron, who is accused of stealing approximately $175 worth of sports trading cards. He allegedly gave the officer false names and birthdates and told police he ingested drugs prior to the arrest. A rock of suspected methamphetamine was recovered from the back of the police cruiser, and he admitted it was his. Archual also had a warrant from Summit County. Summit County deputies took custody of him and escorted him to the Cleveland Clinic in Brunswick. He was charged with shoplifting and falsification. 2:13 a.m. — Pearl Road/Rolling Hills Drive; a traffic stop was conducted, and contact was made with Gregory Beier, 39, of Medina. He had glassy and watery eyes, slurred speech and he smelled like alcohol. He showed impairment during standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested. He provided a breath sample yielding 0.198 percent blood alcohol content. Beier was released with citations into Brunswick Mayor's Court. Brunswick Hills police Saturday, June 15 10:06 a.m. — Kenton Lane; a bee entered a vehicle from the outside, and the driver panicked and attempted to swat the bee away. The driver lost control and went off the roadway to the right. The vehicle then struck a fire hydrant. Hinckley police Wednesday, April 10 3:52 p.m. — Mattingly Road; a criminal damage complaint was made. Saturday, April 20 7:17 p.m. — Warner Road; police were dispatched for firearms discharged in the area. Dispatch said a window was struck by a bullet, but there were no injuries. An investigation ensued. Friday, April 26 6:49 p.m. — Highland Mist Circle; a man reported someone opened a fraudulent cellphone line through T-Mobile.
