Medina Hospital Foundation, medical staff award scholarships The Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, the hospital's medical staff and the Medina Hospital Foundation announced the winners of their annual scholarships. Medina County high school graduates who plan to study in the medical field during the 2024-25 academic year were awarded $44,000 total. The following students were awarded the $2,500 Medina Hospital medical staff scholarships: Olivia Brown-Turner, from Wadsworth, will attend the University of Mount Union. Breanna Caballero-Salazar, from Brunswick, will attend Brigham Young University-Idaho. Noah Casey, from Wadsworth, will attend Stark State College. Ella Gillin, from Highland, will attend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Madelynn Kessler, from Medina, will attend the Ohio State University. Dino Cove opens at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Starting today, Dino Cove will be open to guests of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It is next to Waterfowl Lake, and features more than 25 animatronic dinosaurs and hands-on experiences like a fossil dig pit and photo experiences. Guests can learn more about dinosaur species across the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Admission to Dino Cove is $3 for members and $4 for nonmembers per experience. General zoo admission is also required to enter. Ohio Wesleyan University presents Golden Bishop awards Ohio Wesleyan University presented its Golden Bishop awards in April to recognize students for their achievements in leadership and community service during the 2023-24 academic year. The following local students were recognized: Mylah Morris, of Seville, earned the outstanding resident assistant/moderator award for contributing to the Interfaith House small living unit and the surrounding faith communities. Allyson Reich, of Wadsworth, earned a bridge builder award. The award is given for work as a Bishop scholars team lead, which comprises tutoring children in grades K-8 in seven school districts to help them recover from learning lost during the pandemic. Medina High School nominated for 2024 Dazzle Awards The Dazzle Awards recognizes the onstage and offstage theatrical work of students from 37 schools across Northeast Ohio. Medina High School was nominated for the following awards: Best scenic design and best choreography execution for its performances of "The Prom." Olivia Douglas for her portrayal of Emma Nolan in "The Prom." The 2024 ceremony will take place at the KeyBank State Theatre at 7:30 p.m. May 18.
