Brunswick's senior expo brings in more than 300 attendees

BRUNSWICK — A group of senior citizens lined up an hour early to get inside this year's senior health and wellness expo and bake-off, which had more vendors than ever. Medina County Office for Older Adults Media and Activities Supervisor Joanne Meincke said more than 300 attendees filled the Brunswick Recreation Center's gym on Wednesday morning. This year, there were 67 vendors in attendance, which is 17 more than last year, she said. Each table offered information about services related to health care, government programs and more. Companies also prepared baked goods to be judged in a competition. Brunswick Pointe won the competition with a pineapple and brown sugar cupcake, which was topped with whipped cream and a disco ball to fit the event's 1970s theme. "In one spot there's tons of information about all kinds of things that can help them," Meincke said. "It gives them a chance to get out, and there's a little bit of community."
