Democratic faceoff will determine County Recorder challenger

Two Democrats with extensive experience in public service will compete for the right to challenge Republican Lorain County Recorder Mike Doran in the general election later this year. Jeff Bearer has direct experience with the county Recorder's Office, currently serving as chief deputy recorder, while Dawn Walther has worked in the county courts and administration as well as for both the cities of Elyria and Lorain. Both candidates live in Lorain. Bearer: I am your chief deputy recorder for Lorain County, running the day-to-day operation. In my tenure as chief deputy recorder, I've had the honor of leading crucial projects, securing funds, and carefully planning and budgeting to ensure our county's records are impeccably maintained. This experience has given me an in-depth understanding of the inner workings of the Recorder's Office. I know what it needs to thrive and, more importantly, what it can offer to the residents of Lorain County. Bearer: The biggest challenge, as I see it, transcends a single issue: Ensuring that our county government is filled with dedicated, honest, and hard-working elected officials who prioritize the welfare of the community above personal agendas. This can be done by actively engaging with residents and community groups and supporting and endorsing candidates who are committed to serving the public interest. Being the next county recorder will provide a unique opportunity to lead by example and advocate for a higher standard of public service.
