Annual Four Chaplains remembrance service American Legion Post 202 will hold its annual Four Chaplains Remembrance Service at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Medina United Methodist Church, 4747 Foote Road. The hourlong ceremony is dedicated to the Four Chaplains of World War II who died after giving up their life vests on a sinking ship to save the lives of others. There will be five speakers who will offer short reflections related to sacrifice and community goodwill. Cleveland Orchestra guest soloist Mariann Vogel will sing songs of reflection. The event is free and open to the public. Medina United Church of Christ, Congregational to have worship series for Lent Medina United Church of Christ, Congregational will kick off the Lenten season with drive-thru ashes on Feb. 14, Ash Wednesday, from 1-2 p.m. in the church parking lot at 217 E. Liberty St. in Medina. The worship service with the imposition of ashes will be inside at 7 p.m. The church's Lenten worship series "Parables" will take place on Sunday mornings from Feb. 18 until Palm Sunday. The series will explore why Jesus taught parables. "We will immerse ourselves in the timeless and transformative parables shared by Jesus, each one a window into the mysteries of the kingdom of God," the Rev. Luke Lindon said. "As we delve into these narrative gems, we will unravel the profound truths they hold, gaining insights that will reshape our understanding of God, God's kingdom and our role within it." High school choir festival Fairlawn Lutheran Parish Arts Series is presenting a high school choir festival at 4 p.m. Feb. 4. It will take place at 3415 W. Market St. in Fairlawn. The participating choirs this year are from Revere, Firestone, Copley-Fairlawn and the Summit Choral Society. The event is free to attend.
