Donut Land celebrates 52 years of business

BRUNSWICK — Donut Land staff and customers celebrated the establishment's 52nd anniversary on Wednesday with free prizes. Donut Land was opened on Jan. 26, 1972, by Bill Rienerth, who died in 2021. His granddaughter Amanda Rienerth now operates the business and continues her grandfather's tradition of selling homemade doughnuts 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the majority of the year. "My grandfather, he was really passionate about this business," she said. "He really built a great staple for the community." Every customer who visited on Wednesday spun a prize wheel for Donut Land-themed items like a sticker, key chain or a free doughnut. They also entered into a raffle to win a dozen doughnuts every week for an entire year. "We have lots of customers that love to come in and show their support," Amanda Rienerth said. "We have a good time." One regular customer is Richard Kuehn, who said he visits Donut Land nearly every day to talk to his friends and have a cup of coffee. He started stopping by the business in the mid-1990s when he was done with work at Brunswick Schools. "I just about love every doughnut that they have," he said. "The only thing is, I don't like coconut." Kuehn said he loves to visit Donut Land because of the people, since it is a family environment. "Not that many establishments last as long nowadays," he said. It has been a successful year for Donut Land, Amanda Rienerth said. "I'm definitely blessed," she said. "My grandfather left an awesome legacy for me to take over. I plan on continuing for many years to come, so 52 (years) is awesome."
