James J. Horvath

James J. Horvath, affectionately known as JJ, 75, peacefully entered into the loving arms of Jesus surrounded by his beloved family Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born January 14, 1948, to the late James and Vilma (Gulyas) Horvath at Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood, Ohio. He grew up in Parma, Ohio and lived all his married life in the Greater Cleveland area. James was a distinguished Professional Engineer with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from Cleveland State University earned in 1981. He had a career that spanned over 44 years in his chosen field, working at AGA, IAS, and CSA, all companies in the natural gas testing field. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, filial son, and good friend to many. He was husband of 45 years to the late Celine (Fiut); father to Amanda (Spenser Bernard), and James Paul (Kelly Bres); grandfather to Emeric; brother to Patricia and Joseph. He had many talents and passions including his incredible mathematical abilities, creativity at woodworking, love of playing cards and board games, skill at bowling, golf, and puzzles and loyalty to his beloved Cleveland Browns. He was also an avid soccer fan and spent over 15 years as a high school referee in Northeastern Ohio. James participated in the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scout Master and could be found every summer camping with his troop. His unconditional love and enduring spirit will continue to inspire all the lives he has touched. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. in Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church followed by interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
