Joseph Schmidt, Jr.

Joseph Schmidt, Jr. was born in Gara, Hungary on July 19, 1931, to the late Joseph and Maria Schmidt. He was a devoted husband of over 66 years to his beloved, Gertrud. He was a loving father to Gerhard (Kathy), Joseph (Kathy), and Erika (Art). He was a devoted grandfather to Kara (Trent), Eric (Valerie), Kaily (James), Erin (Tyler), Christina (Zachary), Joseph (Shannon), John, Matthew (Megan), Justin (Sarah), and Jordan (Erika) and great-grandfather to Jacob, Jillian, Walker, Kimber, Sienna, Miles, Grace, Sadie, Graham, Lucy, and Echo. He was a loving brother to Maria (Tom, deceased) Heibili and brother-in-law to Norbert (Gertrude) and the late Elizabeth Rupp. He was a devoted uncle to Marie (Gene) Juris, Anthony Heibili, the late Thea Garity, Mary Anne (Roger) Wokas, Roland and Jurgen (Sylvia). He was a devoted friend to many and was a blessing to those who had the privilege of meeting him. He honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces as a paratrooper, and was the broker/owner of Joseph Schmidt Realty, Inc. Visitation and funeral service will both take place Saturday, December 2, 2023, in St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Brunswick. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial begins immediately following at 10:30 a.m. In honor of Joseph, donations can be made to Beat the Streets Cleveland, an organization that is dedicated to helping underprivileged children through sports and mentorship.
