George Curtis Hagerty

George Curtis Hagerty, 91, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born November 27, 1931, to the late George Michael and Isabell Sarah (nee Sechrist) Hagerty in Ruffs Dale, Pennsylvania. George was an electrician and member of the UAW Local 1005 and retired from General Motors after 38 years. He served 60 plus years as a fireman for the Brunswick Hills Fire Department and was Chief for four years. George belonged to the Medina Masonic Lodge #58, F. & AM, and the Medina Chapter #266, Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years. A man of strong faith, George was a lifetime member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church. He was involved in Pastor Parish Relations, Stewardship, starting a Camping Club, and more recently volunteered with the food pantry. He started his 'Hat' ministry and used it for creating smiles and sharing Jesus. He was always outdoors, going hunting and camping. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and cornhole, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. Left to celebrate George Curtis' life are his loving children, Timothy C. Hagerty (Dianne Depasquale-Hagerty), Thomas G. (Anita) Hagerty, Todd K. (Lynn) Hagerty, and Christina R. (David) Brod; his cherished grandchildren, Sarah R. (Robert) Grimmett, Erin R. and Ryan A. Brod; his adorable great-grandchildren, Landon R. and Robert 'EPP' Grimmett; his loving companion and partner in faith, Justine Rutherford; and many extended family and friends. George Curtis will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor R. 'Ellie' and sister, Sarah Isabell Whetsel. The family will welcome friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Waite & Son Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m., with one hour prior visitation, on Friday, October 13, 2023 in the Brunswick United Methodist Church, 1395 Pearl Road in Brunswick with interment to follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens.
