Redwood Apartment Neighborhoods expand to Brunswick Hills

BRUNSWICK HILLS TWP. — Public officials from different parts of Medina County came together to celebrate Redwood Apartment Neighborhoods' expansion into Brunswick Hills Township during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. Redwood CEO Steve Kimmelman said the company started 20 years ago by building a neighborhood, which consisted of 91 units in the Akron area. "It was our first Redwood neighborhood, and it was unheard of back then to build a single story apartment home with an attached garage," he said. "The bankers at that time said it's not going to work." Now Redwood has more than 16,000 apartment homes across nine states, and many of the homes are located in the Midwest, Kimmelman said. Additionally, more than 4,000 additional homes are in various stages of construction throughout the country. The Brunswick Hills neighborhood is at the corner of Pearl Road and Sleepy Hollow Road. He said it is the company's 133rd neighborhood and will consist of 103 units. Nearly 60 of the units already have occupants. "It's very exciting that we brought people into our area to stimulate our economy," Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance Executive Director Debbie Boehmke said. "Thank you so much, and congratulations." Homes in the neighborhood have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, an attached two-car garage, patio space, full-size washer and dryer hookups, along with other amenities. The neighborhood itself also has features like green spaces, designated guest parking and a pet wash station. Redwood also has neighborhoods in Liverpool Township, around Medina and Wadsworth. Kimmelman said Redwood believes strongly in collaboration and teamwork, and the company intends to give back to the community that it is located in. "Collaboration is very important because we all want to make this community not just a good community, but a great community," Brunswick Mayor Ron Falconi said.
