Medina County voters in different parts of the county split on Issue 1

The majority of voters from Medina County's cities voted no on Issue 1, while the county's township voters were more split on the issue, according to unofficial election results from the Medina County Board of Elections. Issue 1 was a proposed constitutional amendment that would have raised the standards to initiate and pass constitutional amendments in the state. The issue failed in Medina County and statewide on Tuesday, according to unofficial election results. About 54 percent of the approximately 59,000 Medina County residents who voted this August voted no on the issue. During the 2020 presidential election, more 106,000 Medina County residents voted and nearly 61 percent of the voters selected Donald Trump to be president. Around 60 percent of voters from Brunswick, Medina and Wadsworth voted no on Issue 1. The city of Medina had the highest concentration of people who voted no in Medina County, at nearly 62 percent. Voters who live in townships that surround the county's cities also tended to vote no on Issue 1. Brunswick Hills, Medina Township, Montville and Wadsworth Township had more no votes than yes votes for the issue. Nearly 58 percent of voters from Brunswick Hills voted no, which is similar to the percentage of people who voted no in the city of Brunswick. Gloria Glens also leaned more toward no, with approximately 55 percent of the village's vote being against the issue. Its neighbor Chippewa Lake was split exactly down the middle, with 132 people voting for each side. The villages of Lodi and Seville were pretty even for both sides, with slightly more people voting no. The townships that primarily make up Highland Schools were split on the issue. Hinckley Township had nearly 54 percent of people voting yes, while approximately 52 percent of Sharon Township voters picked no. Granger Township was pretty even on both sides, with 50.6 percent voting yes. Residents who live in the Buckeye Schools district were also mixed. Liverpool and York townships had close to 50 percent of people voting for either side of the issue. Meanwhile, Litchfield Township had just over 58 percent of voters choose yes. The majority of Westfield Center voters voted no, while the opposite is true for Westfield Township. The remaining areas of the county had more people vote for Issue 1 than against it. Chatham, Guilford, Harrisville, Homer, Spencer Township and the village of Spencer had more than 50 percent of voters vote in favor of the issue.
