Buckeye Local Schools selects two finalist candidates for superintendent position

YORK TWP. — Buckeye Local Schools recently announced that the district's search for a new superintendent has been narrowed down to two candidates: Carrie Knapp and Jeff Stanton. Knapp is currently the principal of Highland High School and has been in the role since 2017. Before that she was the Highland High School assistant principal for four years. Since 2018, Stanton has been the human resources director at North Olmsted City Schools. Previously, he was the principal of North Olmsted High School for 10 years. "Buckeye Local Schools is committed to a transparent and inclusive selection process, ensuring that the chosen superintendent is well-aligned with the district's mission, values and educational goals," Buckeye Board of Education President Seth Kujat said in a media release. "We are confident that from our finalists, we will be able to select a remarkable leader who will guide our district to even greater heights." On June 21, community stakeholders such as parents, faculty, staff, students, local leaders and community members will conduct interviews with the candidates. According to Buckeye Local Schools, the board of education will also interview both finalists to assess each candidates qualifications, leadership style and vision for the future of the district. The board of education will then make an offer. "The selection of a new superintendent is a crucial decision for Buckeye Local Schools as we strive to maintain our tradition of academic excellence and provide the best educational opportunities for our students," Kujat said. "We look forward to involving our stakeholders in the next step of the selection process as their valuable insights and perspectives will be instrumental in making the final decision." Last month, the current Buckeye Superintendent Jeff Harrison announced his resignation that is effective July 31. He was the superintendent at Buckeye for three years and will become the superintendent for Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools next school year. Buckeye Local Schools is currently working with an organization called Finding Leaders to help the district with its superintendent search.
