Brunswick and Brunswick Hills police blotter for April 27

Brunswick police Wednesday, April 19 12:59 a.m. — Center Road/South Carpenter Road; a traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Andrea Salazar, 21, of Brunswick, and passenger Michael Miller, 24, of Akron. Police said marijuana and paraphernalia were located within the vehicle and an open container of alcohol was located on Miller. Both subjects were issued citations into Brunswick Mayor's Court and released. 4:40 a.m. — Andrea Drive; officers responded to a report of criminal damaging. A man and a woman got into a physical altercation, which resulted in the man smashing her bedroom window. The parties were separated for the evening and were advised to contact the prosecutor's office if they wish to pursue criminal charges. 8:33 a.m. — Fernwood Drive; animal control and police responded to a dog that was struck by a vehicle. No apparent owner information was located on the dog. 2:15 p.m. — Vincent Drive; a woman reported that she was slapped by another woman in the laundry room of her home, which is between the house and the attached garage. The other woman came out of her living quarters and began to argue with the complainant. The woman denied intentionally slapping the complainant and said she was trying to deflect the items that were thrown at her in the close quarters. 11:08 p.m. — 2700 block of Boston Road; Jennifer Dixon, 55, of Brunswick, exited her stopped vehicle and began yelling at police. A traffic stop was attempted, and she fled in her vehicle. After a brief pursuit, she resisted the officer's attempts to arrest her. She was taken into custody and transported to the Medina County Jail. Thursday, April 20 11:31 a.m. — Town Center Boulevard; Comfort Suites employee reported that an impaired guest was creating a disturbance in the hotel lobby. The subject, Nicole Dempsey, 50, of Brunswick Hills, left prior to officer arrival, but she was located lying in a mulch bed near the Giant Eagle pharmacy with an opened bottle of vodka. A squad was summoned, and she was transported to the Cleveland Clinic for further evaluation. She was also cited into Brunswick Mayor's Court for disorderly conduct and open container. 2:04 p.m. — 3800 block of Center Road; Meijer's loss prevention reported a man shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Guillermo Bolanos, 50, of Wellington, who was found to have failed to scan just over $100 worth of merchandise at the self-checkout. He was cited into Brunswick Mayor's Court for theft and released on scene. He was also issued a one-year trespass order by Meijer loss prevention. 3:11 p.m. — Maxwell Boulevard/Center Road; one vehicle rear-ended another. 3:24 p.m. — Center Road/Highland Avenue; one vehicle rear-ended another. Friday, April 21 1:08 a.m. — Shenandoah Parkway; police responded to Bar and Drink for a report of lost property. It was determined that Antonio Diaz, 29, of Brunswick, accidentally walked off with another patron's property. He was located, and the property was returned, but he was found to have an active failure-to-appear warrant from the State Highway Patrol. He was arrested and turned over to the patrol without incident. 11:13 a.m. — 1700 block of Pearl Road; a Coin Laundry employee contacted the Brunswick police, saying Cynthia Dotson, 33, of Elyria, and Steven Miller, 24, of Brunswick, entered the business after previously being asked not to return. Miller was served a citation for criminal trespass while at the Medina County Jail, and a warrant has been placed for Dotson for criminal trespass. 2:16 p.m. — West 130 Street; a man said he parked his 2019 Sure-Trac dump trailer next to the shed in a church parking lot on April 20, but the next day he observed the trailer had been stolen. 7:07 p.m. — Interstate 71; a three-car crash occurred. Saturday, April 22 2:11 a.m. — 4500 block of Center Road; a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for driving in a weaving course. The operator Angelina Perkins, 41, of Brook Park, was arrested after she was found to have several arrest warrants, a suspended license and was under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to the Brunswick Police Department, where she provided a breath sample of 0.263 percent blood alcohol content. She was issued citations into Brunswick Mayor's Court and was released to the Brunswick Hills police. 2:58 a.m. — 4000 block of Center Road; Joshua Stockton, 35, of Barberton, was incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. A copy of his warrant for failure to appear on a drug abuse instrument charge was emailed to the jail for service. 11:50 a.m. — Hadcock Road; a report of a man lying on the grass near Willetts Middle School was received. Upon arrival, contact was made with Jason Smyrak, 53, of Brunswick. He was asleep in wet grass near the Hadcock Road entrance and had open containers of small bottles of vodka. He was taken into custody, served citations into Brunswick Mayor's Court and transported to his residence. Sunday, April 23 10:59 a.m. — 1700 block of Pearl Road; a man reported losing his wallet in the restroom at McDonald's. 3:17 p.m. — Royalton Road; police met with Brook Park police and arrested Darius Sherrick, 25, of Strongsville, on a failure-to-appear warrant from Brunswick police. He was transported directly to the Medina County Jail and turned over without incident. Monday, April 24 4:01 p.m. — Fernwood Drive/Pinewood Drive; one vehicle struck another while backing up. Tuesday, April 25 8:32 a.m. — 3800 block of Center Road; one vehicle rear-ended another. 8:38 a.m. — Grafton Road/North Carpenter Road; a man reported an alleged traffic altercation with another man. The complainant said he and the other man exchanged offensive gestures, and then the other man took out a firearm, which he held above his head but did not point at the complainant. The man denied taking out a firearm during the altercation. Brunswick Hills police Thursday, April 20 3:07 p.m. — Lake Forest Reserve; officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. Saturday, April 22 3:47 p.m. — Interstate 71; a vehicle drove off the road after hitting a slick spot on the road.
