College Notes: Buckeye alum Eric Bartos fourth at Division II meet

Mercyhurst redshirt senior Eric Bartos (Buckeye) placed fourth at the NCAA Division II National Championships to earn All-America status. It was Bartos' fourth time qualifying. This winter, he was the Super Region One champion at 133 pounds. Bartos finished his career with a 116-36 record while also earning Super Region One Freshman of the Year and being an NWCA All-American scholar. Women's swimming Graduate student Felicia Pasadyn (Brunswick) helped Ohio State to its best NCAA D-I Championships finish when the Buckeyes placed sixth. Pasadyn earned honorable mention All-America honors with a 13th-place finishes in the 400-yard individual medley (4:07.48) and as a member of the 800 free relay (7:01.26). Women's basketball Redshirt senior Peyton Banks (Wadsworth) was named NAIA and WBCA honorable mention All-America after finishing with Siena Heights career records for points (2,193), free throws (597) and free throw percentage (.896). Banks also is second in field goals (708), rebounds (1,040) and points per game (15.55). Junior Taylor Leatherman (Wadsworth) was named to the National Christian College Athletic Association's D1 Midwest All-Regional first team after leading Concordia with 14.6 points and 8.6 rebounds. Men's basketball Sophomore Christian Howard (Medina) finished his season with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists in Columbia International's loss to Grace College in the first round of the NAIA tournament. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists. Women's indoor track and field Cuyahoga Community College freshman Abby Makara (Brunswick) took sixth in the pole vault at the National Junior College Athletic Association national indoor meet to claim All-America status. Women's outdoor track and field Miami junior Jordan Baith (Cloverleaf) set a personal record with a javelin throw of 26.01 meters to place sixth at the Miami Blizzard Buster. Men's outdoor track and field Akron redshirt freshman Owen Wendl (Highland) won the discus at West Virginia's Stan Romanoski Open with a toss of 168 feet, 7 inches. He also placed fifth in the shot put with a 49-5½. Sophomore Cameron Schontzler (Medina) helped Miami win the 4x800-meter relay (8:12.94) at the Blizzard Buster. Men's golf Methodist Junior Cooper Hrabak (Highland) shot a 5-under-par 67 in the final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational to move up 16 spots and finish fifth with a 5-under 211. Hrabak is back competing for the D-III school after spending one semester at D-I Florida Gulf Coast. Baseball Freshman Mike Midea (Buckeye) tied the Hiram record for hits in a game with five in a 15-11 win over Grove City. Midea had two doubles and six RBIs on his way to becoming the third Hiram player to record five hits in a game. Sophomore Josh Kross (Brunswick) entered Eastern Michigan's game against Butler on Tuesday on a seven-game hit streak, going 12-for-32 (.375) with eight runs, 11 RBIs, three doubles and two home runs over that span. Freshman Billy Adams (Medina resident/St. Ignatius) is on a five-game hitting streak for Ohio to lift his batting average to .319. He also has three runs and 10 RBIs. Sophomore Ty Stolarski (Medina) drove in the winning run in Akron's 6-5 walk-off victory after being hit by a pitch in the 10th inning. It was his fifth RBI of the season. Otterbein Junior Jacob Perebzak (Wadsworth resident/Walsh Jesuit) is hitting .448 with 19 RBIs, 14 runs, seven doubles and two home runs. Ashland senior Josh Meyer (Buckeye) is 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA, 10 strikeouts and nine walks in 21 2/3 innings. Baldwin Wallace senior Carl Pennington (Wadsworth) is hitting .455 with two RBIs, one run, one double and one triple. Oakland sophomore Peter Jelenic (Wadsworth) is hitting .259 with seven RBIs and six runs. Ohio Dominican sophomore Jake Scherette (Brunswick) is hitting .267 with four runs and four RBIs in 17 games. San Diego City College sophomore Conner Stewart (Wadsworth) is hitting .314 with 17 runs and 15 RBIs in 22 games. Wittenberg senior Matt Moore (Wadsworth) is hitting .368 with 10 RBIs, two runs, two doubles and one home run. Youngstown State freshman Matt Thompson (Wadsworth) is hitting .293 with nine runs, six RBIs and two doubles in 12 games. Softball Wooster junior Kaydee Clark (Buckeye) went 11-for-27 (.404) with six RBIs, three stolen bases and one double over eight games to earn North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors. Case Western Reserve sophomore Kylie Hosey (Medina) is 6-0 with a 0.91 ERA, two saves and 42 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings over eight appearances. Heidelberg senior Jessica Voitko (Wadsworth) is hitting .394 with six RBIs, two doubles and one run in 12 games. Cuyahoga Community College freshman Nikki Goode (Cloverleaf) is hitting .333 with two doubles in seven games. Marietta graduate student Sarah Keating (Wadsworth) has a 3.23 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 13 innings. Tennessee-Martin junior Maddi Long (Wadsworth) is hitting .295 with nine runs, six RBIs, two doubles and one home run. Walsh senior Clare Mewhinney (Buckeye) is hitting .364 with four runs, two RBIs and two doubles. Women's tennis Junior Emily Hadler (Highland) defeated Hillsdale's Canela Luna 7-5, 6-4 to help Findlay win its eighth straight match. Men's lacrosse Junior Jake Nanosky (Medina) has 11 goals and nine assists in seven games to lead Baldwin Wallace with 20 points. Senior Jacob Brickman (Brunswick) scored two goals and had two assists in Heidelberg's 13-8 win over Anderson. Women's lacrosse Sophomore Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is leading Ohio Northern with 18 assists while adding 10 goals. Baldwin Wallace sophomore Taylor Miklos (Brunswick) has six goals in five games. Men's gymnastics Freshman Johnathan Pinc (Buckeye) was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week after posting a career-high 14.6 on the vault to finish second and help Army defeat William & Mary 390.15-384.20.
