College Notes: Wadsworth alum Peyton Banks named player of the week again at Siena

Siena Heights senior Peyton Banks won her third Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week award of the season after leading victories over Cornerstone and Michigan-Dearborn. The Wadsworth alumna had 14 points and nine rebounds in a 79-47 win over Cornerstone and 22 points and 12 rebounds against Dearborn. Banks is second in program history with 993 rebounds and 672 field goals. She needs 50 points to top Brent Tucker's school-record 2,122 and become the school's leader for men and women. Women's basketball Freshman Tori Smith (Cloverleaf) recorded career highs with 30 points and 18 rebounds in Cuyahoga Community College's 81-31 victory over Lorain Community College. Senior Angela Fink (Brunswick) is averaging 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks for Lake Erie. Penn State-Behrend sophomore Alexis Furyes (Highland) is averaging 7.7 points and 6.0 rebounds on .579 shooting from the field and .529 from the foul line in four games in February. Concordia junior Taylor Leatherman (Wadsworth) is averaging 14.5 points on .438 shooting from the field and .832 from the foul line while notching 8.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Sophomore Sarah McKee (Medina) scored nine points with five rebounds and two assists in top-ranked Ashland's 93-56 win over Ursuline. Men's basketball Sophomore Marquis Barnett (Brunswick) scored a career-high 21 points in Presbyterian's 76-72 loss to UNC-Asheville. He added three rebounds and four assists. Wofford sophomore Corey Tripp (Medina) is averaging 9.0 points on .445 shooting from the field, .352 from beyond the arc and .704 from the foul line, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Sophomore Christian Howard (Medina) scored 15 points with three rebounds in Columbia International's 65-54 win over Bluefield. Baldwin Wallace senior Jack Simmons (Wadsworth) is averaging 10.0 points on .497 shooting from the field and .609 from the foul line while grabbing 6.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Men's track and field Freshman Evan Jarold (Brunswick) took third in the 3,000-meter run in a personal-best 8:26:52 for Walsh at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open. John Carroll sophomore Dominic Delmoro (Wadsworth) took fifth in the 3,000 at the SPIRE Invitational with a personal-record 8:40.24. Women's track and field Junior Madison Miles (Brunswick resident/Padua Franciscan) helped Mount Union's 4x200 relay break the national record with a 1:40.25 to win the All-Ohio Meet and earn Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors with Kennady Gibbins, Taylor Cupp and Kenadee Wayt. Muskingum graduate student Macy McAdams (Highland) broke her school record in the 3,000 (10:11.01) to win the All-Ohio Meet. Walsh senior Bridget Hahn (Medina resident/Hoban) took second in the 5,000 in 18:01.85 at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open. Sophomore Olivia Roberts (Medina) took sixth in the 5,000 at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open. Freshman Jenna Razavi (Medina) took seventh place in the mile at the SPIRE Collegiate Games. Wrestling Mercyhurst senior Eric Bartos (Buckeye) picked up his 24th win of the season with a 7-1 decision over Pitt-Johnstown's Byron Daubert. Junior Jacob Kraker (Brunswick) placed fourth at 174 pounds at the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship to help lead Wheaton to third out of 10 teams. Women's golf Senior Secilia Ho (Wadsworth) tallied a three-round, 13-over-par 226 to place 18th at the Texas State Invitational to help Southern Illinois place sixth. Softball Junior Kaydee Clark (Buckeye) kicked off the season by going 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in a 6-0 win over Centre. She is 7-for-15 with six runs, three RBIs and two doubles for 4-0 Wooster. Sophomore Paige Berkmeyer (Highland) is off to a 3-for-10 start through the first four games of the season for Illinois. Junior Maddi Long (Wadsworth) went 2-for-3 with a run in Tennessee-Martin's 4-1 victory over Kennesaw State at the Stinger Classic. Baseball Junior Zane Barnhart (Highland) has thrown eight scoreless innings over three appearances for Hillsdale, striking out 15. Sophomore Drew Lazor (Medina) is 11-for-27 (.407) in eight games for San Diego City College with five runs, one RBI, two doubles and one triple. Sophomore Conner Stewart (Wadsworth) is 9-for-28 (.321) in eight games for San Diego City College with seven runs, seven RBIs, three doubles and one home run. Men's tennis The Richmond Spiders, coached by Jacob Dunbar (Cloverleaf), are projected to finish third in the Atlantic-10 and are 4-3 overall. Women's tennis Senior Joelle Petek (Highland) earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Indiana-Kokomo's Lillie Fishero in Cedarville's first match of the spring. Sophomore Calista Bobula (Brunswick) teamed with Faith Monson to win in doubles play in the 4-3 overall win. The Richmond Spiders, coached by Emily Dunbar (Cloverleaf), are projected to finish third in the Atlantic-10 and are 2-6 out of conference so far this spring. Women's swimming Graduate student Felecia Pasadyn (Brunswick) helped Ohio State to a fourth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay on the first day of the Big Ten Championship. Freshman Isabelle Parr (Brunswick) helped Mount Union's 200 medley relay (1:56.28) defeat St. Vincent with Maddie Horrigan, Charlotte Cohagan and Jordyn Miller. Men's volleyball Junior Nick Reilman (Medina resident/Walsh Jesuit) recorded a season-high 11 kills in Baldwin Wallace's 3-2 victory over Concordia (Ill.).
