Brunswick and Brunswick Hills police blotter for Feb. 16

Brunswick police Wednesday, Feb. 8 11:17 a.m. — Red Clover Lane; a man reported the fraudulent use of his Citi Mastercard. He was first made aware after Citi contacted him to inquire about a suspect online purchase. Since then he discovered multiple online purchases through Home Depot and BLT Plumbing Supply. The exact amount of fraudulent purchases made is unknown, but at least $1,720 has been documented thus far. The fraudulent purchases had been shipped to a Wood County mailing address. 9:07 p.m. — 4000 block of Center Road; Jacob Linville, 19, of Brunswick, turned himself in on a failure to appear warrant out of the Wadsworth Police Department with an original charge of improper use. He also had a failure to appear warrant out of Parma with an original charge of failure to signal. He was transported to the Medina County Sheriff's Office without incident. 10:41 p.m. — Pinewood Drive/Laurel Road; a traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle, but police said the operator, Michael Lavelle, 39, of Brunswick, failed to stop and continued until he reached his residence. He was taken into custody and was found to have a suspended driver's license and expired registration. He was issued citations into Medina Municipal Court and transported to the Medina County Jail. Thursday, Feb. 9 1:42 a.m. — West 130 Street; the operator of a vehicle, Jesse Konczos, 30, of Cleveland, exited the roadway and admitted to having consumed alcohol in addition to being in possession of an open container of alcohol inside his vehicle. He indicated impairment and was arrested for OVI. 2:15 p.m. — 4300 block of Center Road; Valerie Walcher, 34, of Brunswick, contacted Brunswick police saying she found a stray dog. She dropped the dog off at the Brunswick Animal Control building. Through investigation, police said it was learned that the dog was in fact hers and that she provided misleading and false information. She was issued a citation for falsification into Brunswick Mayor's Court. The dog was returned to her, and arrangements were made for the dog to be returned to the Wisconsin Humane Society where she recently adopted her from. 9:03 p.m. — Waite Farms Lane; a driver failed to control his vehicle and struck a tree. Friday, Feb. 10 7:36 a.m. — 24000 block of Royalton Road; North Olmsted police came in contact with Julian Lesure, 22, of Parma, who had a Brunswick Mayor's Court warrant for failure to appear. He was picked up by Brunswick police and transported to the Medina County Jail without incident. 2:12 p.m. — 3500 block of Center Road; one vehicle rear-ended another. 5:09 p.m. — 3400 block of Center Road; Brunswick police responded to Giant Eagle for a report of a drunk male in the store. The male was identified as Jason Smyrak, 53, of Brunswick. He was found to have an active warrant from Brunswick police for failure to appear on an original charge of drunkenness and open container. He was transported to the Medina County Jail without incident. Saturday, Feb. 11 3:31 a.m. — 3200 block of Center Road; an occupant of what police said was a suspicious vehicle, Montell Tatum, 21, of Stow, was found to be in possession of marijuana and was issued a minor misdemeanor citation into Brunswick Mayor's Court. 5:41 p.m. — 3100 block of Center Road; one vehicle struck another while changing lanes. Sunday, Feb. 12 10:43 a.m. — 1700 block of Pearl Road; officers responded to a report of a male sleeping in his vehicle. Ryan Poe, 26, of Valley City, said he had marijuana in his possession. After a probable cause search of the vehicle, officers said they found marijuana, suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and prescription pills. He was issued citations for drug abuse and drug paraphernalia into Brunswick Mayor's Court and released on scene pending additional charges. Monday, Feb. 13 7:23 p.m. — Pearl Road/Regal Avenue; the owner of a vehicle, Ronald Caraffi, 51, of Brooklyn, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, and the driver of the vehicle matched his physical description. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as Caraffi. He was arrested on an outstanding theft warrant through the Brooklyn Police Department and turned over to Brooklyn police. 8:25 p.m. — Center Road/Diana Drive; a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle for full-time attention and an equipment violation. While speaking with the operator, Christopher Willard, 35, of Cleveland, officers said they observed THC vape cartridges, edibles and pill bottles in plain view. A probable cause search of the vehicle was completed, which they said yielded cocaine, THC edibles, THC vape cartridges, pills, psychedelic mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of currency. The Medina County Drug Task Force was contacted, and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of trafficking in drugs. He was cited into Medina County Municipal Court and transported to the Medina County Jail. 10:28 p.m. — 15000 block of Royalton Road; Vanessa Marsh, 38, of Parma Heights, was arrested by Middleburg Heights police for a Brunswick Mayor's Court failure to appear warrant on an original charge of no operator's license. Brunswick police took custody of her, and she posted bond and was released with a summons. Tuesday, Feb. 14 7:23 a.m. — 4000 block of Center Road; Brunswick Hills police requested assistance with a digital forensic examination of a cellphone. Brunswick Hills police Wednesday, Feb. 8 11:13 a.m. — Sugarbush Circle; a complaint was filed in reference to a compromised AT&T account. 12:55 p.m. — 200 block of Pearl Road; a report was made of criminal damage to a pane of glass within a fence railing and criminal trespass. Thursday, Feb. 9 3:53 p.m. — Center Road/Marks Road; one vehicle rear-ended another. Saturday, Feb. 11 2:11 p.m. — Newman Drive; an individual wanted to make a report of fraud. Monday, Feb. 13 3:50 p.m. — Roxanne Lane; police spoke with a resident regarding a fraud complaint. 5:57 p.m. — 500 block of Substation Road; a man reported that his ex-spouse sent him harassing texts. Tuesday, Feb. 14 11:41 a.m. — Sleepy Hollow Road/Marks Road; a vehicle turned right, overcorrected and drove off the roadway to strike a telephone pole.
