One dead after car crash in Litchfield Township

LITCHFIELD TWP. — The driver of a vehicle was pronounced dead after a car crash on Spieth Road, west of Vandemark Road, in Litchfield Township on Monday afternoon, according to the State Highway Patrol. The name of the driver had not been released pending the notification of the next of kin. A call was received by the Medina Post of the Highway Patrol regarding the crash at 12:07 p.m. The driver was operating a 2005 Ford 500 and was driving west on Spieth Road. The vehicle went left of center and struck a parked, unoccupied 2008 Ford F-250 landscaping truck. The unoccupied vehicle went off the south side of the road because of the impact, while the Ford 500 went off the north side of the road and came to rest in a ditch. The driver was entrapped and had to be freed mechanically by the Erhart/York Township Fire Department and Litchfield Fire and Rescue. The driver was transported from the scene and pronounced dead.
