Wild Winter Lights at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo The final day of Wild Winter Lights at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is today. Guests can have the full walk-through experience today. The program features hundreds of displays, more than 1.5 million lights, costumed characters, carousel rides and more. Spots can be reserved at bit.ly/3CwdWLb. Free ORMACO concert ORMACO and the Wadsworth Public Library will begin their 2023 Live at the Library concerts with Akron-based musician Mark Alan Wade on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the library, 132 Broad St. Wade will showcase the hammered and mountain dulcimer in the concert. Selections will include traditional American music as well as English and Irish folk music. He has a doctorate in trumpet performance from the Ohio State University and has played in a dozen orchestras in the United States and Europe. He is a national hammered dulcimer champion and performs all over the world on hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, trumpet, piano, guitar and penny whistles. Medina County Career Center student of the month Brunswick senior Devin Douglas has been selected as the Medina County Kiwanis December student of the month for the Medina County Career Center by a panel of his peers. He is a senior in the criminal justice program and is ranked 179 out of his class of 541. He serves as vice president of his class and is the class representative for SkillsUSA. He has taken College Credit Plus classes, has been on the honor roll the last two years and was named star student for his program as a junior. He was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society as a junior. Through his criminal justice program, he has worked security for athletic games, tournaments, MCCC functions and the Great Race in Medina. He was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant and to captain as a junior. He is also a member of the Medina County Explorer's Post 2552, and he volunteered for the Medina County Teen Court. He is the son of Christine and Michael Douglas. He plans to attend college and join the National Guard. New Medina County District Library Board of Trustees member sworn in The Medina County District Library began 2023 with a new trustee on the board and a new set of officers. Jill McGarr was sworn in at a recent meeting, and she was appointed by the Medina County commissioners to a full seven-year term. Kyle White retired from the board after serving on the board for seven years and serving as president for two years during the pandemic. The president is Dr. Maria Griffiths, the vice president is William Koran, and Caleb Parker is the secretary of the board. Local students on Slippery Rock University's fall dean's list Medina County students made it on the dean's list for the fall semester at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. The dean's list consists of undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher based on a schedule of at least 12 nearly attempted and earned credits.
