Brunswick Meijer donates $5,000 to non-profit, which helps homeless veterans

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Meijer made a $5,000 donation to Sub Zero Mission, a non-profit organization that provides items to homeless veterans to keep them warm, on Thursday. Tracey Lynch, an office administrator for Sub Zero Mission, said volunteers find homeless veterans and bring them hats, gloves, coats, boots and sleeping bags, so they do not freeze to death during the winter season. "The veterans, we try to get them off the street and find out if they are in the system, then make sure they get into housing," she said. "(It's) just to get them off the street, (and) give them that one extra helping hand up." The money will go toward purchasing more items to keep veterans warm and maintaining the buses which are used by a team of volunteers to make the deliveries. Lynch said it is a difficult experience to see veterans who are homeless, but it is rewarding to help them. "We've gotten some veterans off the street and got them into where they need to be," Lynch said. "It's a great feeling." Donations Coordinator from The Heart of CCC John Loas worked with Meijer to get a donation for the Sub Zero Mission. The Heart of CCC is an organization which raises money for a different charity every year by coordinating donations and hosting events, and Sub Zero Mission is the charity they choose for 2022. President of The Heart of CCC Helen Lehman said lately the organization has focused on raising money for non-profits which help veterans lately. She said the group decided to raise money for the Sub Zero Mission because Lynch sold them on the organization's mission. The Heart of CCC raised over $27,000 this year for the non-profit, she said. "We're just ecstatic," she said. "I cannot even believe it. Every year we keep growing." Lynch said she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Sub Zero Mission. "I'm without words," she said. "I don't know what to say because it's going to do so much for so many." Contact reporter Madisyn Woodring at (330) 721-4049 or mwoodring@medina-gazette.com.
