Cavs' Dylan Windler sidelined again by injury

Cavaliers forward Dylan Windler's career has been fraught with frustration due to one injury after another. Having already missed the entire preseason and the first 14 games of the regular season with a sprained right ankle, the Cavs announced Wednesday that Windler will remain out for at least the next 4-6 weeks. The 6-foot-6, 196-pounder had a platelet-rich plasma injection to help treat his ankle. He had imaging taken at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health to confirm the injury, which was suffered in training camp in October. Windler's ankle will be stabilized in a walking cast before a new therapy plan will be established. His status will be updated as appropriate. Windler was the 26th overall pick in the 2019 draft but missed what would have been his rookie season with a left lower leg stress reaction and subsequent surgery. The former Belmont University standout picked up where he left off in 2020-21 by missing 13 games with a left hand fracture and 26 more with an injury to his left knee that later required surgery. In all, he's missed 163 of a possible 244 regular-season games in his three-year career. He did appear in a career-high 50 last season. In his career, he's averaged 3.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists while shooting .412 from the field and .320 from the 3-point line.
