Logan Robertson found competent to stand trial in shooting death of 18-year-old girlfriend

MEDINA — A Brunswick man charged in the shooting death of his 18-year-old girlfriend was found competent to stand trial. Logan Robertson, 18, appeared in person in Medina County Common Pleas Court with Judge Joyce Kimbler on Thursday for a competency hearing following a psycho-diagnostic report that came in on Oct. 12. "At this point in time, we will agree that Mr. Robertson is competent, and we would stipulate to that exhibit," said Kerry O'Brien, Robertson's defense attorney. On May 12, Robertson pleaded not guilty to one count of murder in connection with the shooting death of Alyssa Pinardo. Robertson has been indicted on one count of murder. According to the indictment, the grand jury found and specified that Robertson had a firearm on or about his person or under his control while committing the offense and had displayed the firearm, brandished the firearm, indicated that he possessed it or used it to commit the offense. Ohio Revised Code imposes a mandatory three-year jail term for the firearm offense. In addition, the indictment states that the grand jury found and specified that Robertson is the owner and/or possessor of a Glock 30 GEN 4, which is a .45-caliber handgun. Robertson's case began in Medina Municipal Court with Judge Gary Werner, who set a bond at $5 million in an arraignment via video on May 4. Robertson was arrested by Brunswick police after police say he shot Pinardo, whom police say was his girlfriend. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Southwick Boulevard at about 11 p.m. on May 3.
