Tyler Farr ready for a 'Redneck Crazy' night at Thirsty Cowboy

You'll have to forgive Tyler Farr for having hazy memories, at best, of past Thirsty Cowboy gigs. However, he blames his hazy recollections on the fact all of his rowdy fans always show up in Medina. "Every time I've been there, I've had way too much fun," Farr, calling from outside Nashville where he was checking his deer feeders, said with a laugh. "There's something about country bars, they have them all over the Midwest. The fans just go crazy. There are people waiting outside in line since 2 p.m. "It's the reason I sing country music, to see people that excited to see a country show. Every time — and it never fails when I play a venue like the Thirsty Cowboy — it's just a damn party. There's just something about honky-tonks, they're awesome." Set for an Oct. 21 return to the Thirsty Cowboy, Farr, who has charted three No. 1 hits ("Redneck Crazy," "Whiskey in My Water" and "Guy Walks Into A Bar"), is looking ahead to his next project. Just like it has been for the world, the last couple of years were tough and confusing. In 2019, Farr jumped to his buddy Jason Aldean's new label, Night Train Records. A year later, he released new single "Only Truck in Town," which initially had momentum that quickly dissipated when the pandemic hit. The singer called it heartbreaking, but he used that time off to his advantage writing and recording with Aldean. This includes two new songs that will get stage time in Medina. "My first single is called 'Country as S---,'" Farr said. "Jelly Roll is doing a duet with me on the song. It sounds killer and is going to be coming out around February. "It's just rocking and fans are reacting awesome to it, which is how I test these songs out. No offense to TikTok, I like to play the damn thing live and let people decide." Considering its title, which he admitted may cause a few issues at country radio, Farr noted a more traditional-sounding single is tentatively due out in the spring. "'Rednecks Like Me' is a song I wrote when all of the crap was going down with people rioting," Farr said. "That stuff that didn't make our country look very good. I thought, we're better than this. "It's like, just be nice to each other, be respectful and mind your own damn business. This song is about people like me out there. They're the fans who come out to my shows. People trying to make a dollar working their ass off and just loving country music." For those fans like him who plan on attending his upcoming Medina gig, Farr promises plenty of "Redneck Crazy" and "Whiskey in My Water."
