John J. Nist

John J. Nist, 88, of Medina, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022. John was born December 19, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Adelbert and Marie (Bartell) Nist. John and his late wife Carol-Jean lived in Valley City for many years. John worked for Sears installing doors for many years. He worked at the Ironwood Golf Course, Hinckley for over 30 years where he made many close friends. Needless to say, he loved to golf and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals and enjoyed cooking. John is survived by a nephew, Pete (Krissi) Gall, their children, Jessie and Jake; a niece, Monica Nist and her children, Ashley (Jimmy) Conway and Alyssa (Matthew) Lally; great great niece and nephews, Madison Conway, James Conway and Tyler Lally. Also, nieces, Robin (Charles) Wilkins, Jaye Gleyzel, and Kristi Bullock. Great niece and nephew, Alyssa and Ryan Gall, children of the late nephew Philip Gall. Preceded in death by his wife, Carol-Jean Nist in 2013; a niece, Peggy Gall 2019; a brother, Ray (Barb) Nist and sisters-in-law, Fay (Charles) Gall and Janice (Bob) Gleyzel. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Valley City, Ohio. The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor of serving the John's family.
