George S. Urbansky

George S. Urbansky, 88, of Valley City, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022. George was born July 15, 1934, in Cleveland to Stephen Urbansky and Elizabeth (nee Gyapjas) Urbansky Godzich, stepson of Henry Godzich. George worked at the Chevrolet-Parma Transmission Plant as a supervisor until his retirement. Afterwards, George worked as an assistant handyman for many years. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army. George was a member of the VFW Post 5563 in Valley City. George was an avid fisherman, camper, woodworker, arrowhead hunter and enjoyed flying. He loved to create wooden keepsakes for his grandchildren. Wooden fish coat racks, birdhouses and stools were his favorite. George and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed garage sales, traveling and going on casino bus trips with friends and family. George enjoyed watching the Indians and Browns. He always complained about how much money the players made! George is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of 63 years; son, Richard (Susan) Urbansky; daughter, Georgann (Eddie) Echle; grandchildren, Kristine (Mark) Mennell, Sarah Urbansky, Heather (Dan) Lloyd and Hannah (Jake) Naumilket; great-grandchildren, Tony Mennell, Cory (fiancé, Chayla Herner) Mennell, Beau Naumilket and Hayden Lloyd; sister, Elizabeth (Gregory) Lavelle; sisters-in-law, Kathy Urbansky and Aimee Dwyer; also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. George is preceded in death by parents, Stephen Urbansky and Elizabeth Godzich; stepfather, Henry Godzich; daughter, Joanie; brothers, Steve Urbansky and John Godzich. The family would like to thank Southwest Hospital, Arden Courts of Parma and HMC Hospice of Medina for taking care of George during this difficult time. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at Saint Martin of Tours in Valley City. Burial will follow at Saint Martin's Cemetery in Valley City. Donations may be made to: HMC Hospice of Medina County in Medina, Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Hospital.
