Cinda 'Cindy' Gates

Cinda 'Cindy' Gates (nee Gift) passed away quietly on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Cindy was born June 25,1946 in Lodi, to the late Harold and Patricia (nee Schaeffer) Gift. She graduated from Buckeye High School in Medina as part of the class of 1964. On July 24, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart Jerry Gates. Cindy worked as a nurse's aide at Lifecare of Medina for 20 years. She was also a part of The North Eaton Fire Department as an EMT for 29 years. Cindy was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. She was attending the Brunswick Church of the Nazarene where she held various positions. She had previously attended the Grafton Harvest Fellowship and Elyria Community churches of the Nazarene. As the oldest of eight children, she learned the importance of family and that love continued with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Jeannette, Jerry (Kellie) and Julie Gates, Cathy (William) Hering, and Crystal (Michael) Coffman; grandchildren, Tiffany (Kevin) and Brody (Samantha) Kaufman, Jerrid Hering, Alicia (Daniel) Olson, Cody (Hailey) and Charnelia Gates, and Hardy McKnight; great-grandchildren, Allen, Elijah, Natalee, Scarlet, Flynn and Ezra; siblings, Candi Fraser, Harold (Melody), Colleen, Kevin (Angie) Gift, Patty Gift, Christy (Larry) McDivitt and Michele (Napoleon) Fernandez, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Patricia Gift and grandparents. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene, 1107 Clemens Ave., Elyria at 12 Noon. The Reverend Joshua Kirksey, Pastor of the Brunswick Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow the service at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Grafton. Memorial donations can be sent to Brunswick Church of the Nazarene, 3965 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212 to be put towards the Personal Care Pantry ministry or Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene, 1107 Clemens Ave., Elyria, OH 44035 for the Blessing Wagon ministry.
