Oregon man accused of stalking, soliciting Brunswick girl

BRUNSWICK — An Oregon man was arrested on allegations of soliciting sexual activity from a Brunswick girl. Brunswick police arrested Timothy A. Nielsen, 43, of Gresham, Oregon, on July 28, after he attempted to "meet up" with the local juvenile, according to police. Officers responded to the 4600 block of Cypress Drive for a report of a suspicious male, later identified as Nielsen, at 6:58 p.m. It was revealed during the investigation that Nielsen had traveled from Oregon to Brunswick to find and meet a juvenile female who lives in the area. He reportedly started to follow and tried to contact the young female on a variety of social media platforms, police said. Nielsen was arrested and transported to the Medina County Jail. His charges are menacing by stalking and importuning. According to the Ohio Revised Code, menacing by stalking is when someone knowingly acts in a way that would make a person believe that the offender will cause them or their family emotional or physical harm. Importuning is soliciting sexual activity from a minor. The Brunswick Police Department is encouraging parents to closely monitor the social media accounts and contacts for their children.
