John H. Wetzel, Jr.

John H. Wetzel, Jr., 93, of Medina and formerly of Brookside, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022. He was born July 20, 1928 in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late J. Howard and Veronica E. (Grille) Wetzel. John graduated from St. Anthony grade school in Bridgeport, Ohio; Central Catholic High School in Wheeling, West Virginia and John Carroll University in Cleveland. John was a longtime entrepreneur, never really retiring, and was a member of Medina City Council for 15 years. John proudly served his Country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a licensed pilot and had a lifelong interest in aviation. He was a John Carroll University Alumnus and a Ham Radio operator. John is survived by his daughter, Barbara L. (Jack) Barry; sons, J. Stephen and Thomas A. (Catherine) Wetzel and his granddaughter, Amanda (Alan) Barry. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Elizabeth 'Betty' L. Wetzel in 2005; brother, Bernard Wetzel and his sister, Elizabeth T. Noga. Private family services will be held and he will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
