ODOT projects in Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, Vermilion continuing

There will be a number of new and continuing road projects in the region that will affect motorists and traffic starting Monday, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced last week. All work is weather permitting. Avon Lake U.S. Route 6/Lake Road between state Route 83/Avon Belden Road and Jaycox Road will close starting April 18 through April 22 for the Avon Lake Regional Water water line and valve replacement project. The suggested local detour route is U.S. 6/Lake Road east to Route 83/Avon Belden Road, south to Electric Boulevard, east to Jaycox Road north to U.S. 6, and reverse. Passenger vehicles are encouraged to take U.S. 6 east to Route 83/Avon Belden Road, south to Electric Boulevard, east to Jaycox Road, and north to U.S. 6., and reverse. Trucks and commercial traffic should take U.S. 6 east to Route 83/Avon Belden Road, south to Walker Road, east to Lear Road, then north to U.S. 6, and reverse. North Ridgeville State Route 10, between U.S. 20 and Interstate 480, will have eastbound and westbound lane closures for a resurfacing project. The Route 10 eastbound exit ramp to Route 20 will close April 18 so crews can remove and replace the concrete median, ODOT said. The suggested detour for eastbound motorists will be to east on Route 10 to the Alternate Route 83 exit onto the Alternate Route 83 Connector, then re-entry via Route 10 west to Route 20. That phase of project should be completed by April 25, ODOT said. The entire resurfacing project should be completed by October, ODOT said. Vermilion U.S. Route 6 and state Route 60 will have resurfacing and bridge work that was postponed from last week due to weather. Route 6, from the western Vermilion city limits to the Lorain County line, and Route 60, from the southern Vermilion city limits to Route 6, will have single lane closures. That includes long-anticipated bridge work over the Vermilion River. Route 6 will close between West River Road and Park Drive on Monday for one day so crews can repair the bridge. The suggested detour route for eastbound motorists is Route 6 to Route 60, south on Route 60 to Route 2, east on Route 2 to Route 58, then north on Route 58 to Route 6, and reverse for westbound motorists. The entire project should be done in May, ODOT said. Westlake Improvements are being done to the Interstate 90 and Route 252/Columbia Road interchange, with the northern half of the I-90 westbound and Route 252/Columbia Road interchange to be done by October, ODOT said. Sperry Road east of Route 252/Columbia Road will be limited to eastbound traffic starting April 18 through May. North Olmsted&emsp;&emsp;&emsp;&emsp; On I-480, a noise wall will be built between Sterns Road and Route 252 in North Olmsted and should be finished in October. This will cause brief lane restrictions and shoulder closures starting Monday through late October, ODOT said.
