Harold V. 'Vic' Grimm

Harold V. 'Vic' Grimm, born March 29, 1924 in Lodi Hospital, passed peacefully Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Vic was one of nine boys, Fred, Phil, Don, John Jr., Edwin, Perry, Stanley and Roderick and two girls, Martha and Marian, born to John H. and Edna (Scott) Grimm in Lafayette Twp., Medina County. Vic was preceded in death by all 10 of his siblings and his beloved wife, Donna (Bachtel) Grimm, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage, passed in 2017. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Sara) and Robert (Terri); daughter, Karen (Doug) Berger; grandchildren, Jarrod (Haley) Grimm, Chad (Martha) Grimm, Kaitlyn (Patrick) Berger and Hannah Berger (fiancé, Kevin) and great-grandchildren, Breanna, Grayson, Lennon and Oakley Grimm. Vic had many fond memories and interesting stories of his time growing up on the farm, and graduated from Lodi High School in 1942. On June 21, 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served with five of his brothers, who all returned home. Vic was in the trucking industry for 40 years with Motor Cargo and Consolidated Freightways, retiring in January,1987. Hobbies in retirement included reading, golf, and traveling. Many wonderful memories were made on family vacations as well as with their circle of special friends. Vic's biggest passion outside of family was simply, sports-- especially the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed all Cleveland teams and the OSU Buckeyes. After Donna passed, sports helped to fill his days, and he never tired of watching them. A lifelong Methodist, Vic served as a Trustee and on many committees at Lodi United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lodi American Legion, served on the Lodi Shade Tree Commission and delivered Meals on Wheels. The family would like to thank Vic's special caregivers: Tammy Gleisner, and the staff at Burbank Parke Nursing Home. We also have much appreciation for cousins, Pam Evans and Vicki Gordon, who spent their Wednesday evenings with their favorite uncle since the time Donna passed. There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi for immediate family. A date for a celebration of his life will be published at a later time.
