Truck trailer blocks traffic on Interstate 76, State Route 57

WADSWORTH TWP. — A detached oversize load truck trailer was the cause of a Saturday afternoon highway traffic jam in Wadsworth Township. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatch, a pin attaching the trailer to its semi-truck fell out and allowed the load to block traffic for more than two hours near the Interstate 76 - State Route 57 interchange. Highway patrol responded to the incident at 1:39 p.m. Route 57 traffic was reportedly blocked in both directions near Blake Road. Exits from Route 57 onto I-76 west were also shut down while responders called in two large cranes to remove the 21,000-pound trailer. All lanes on Route 57 were said to be reopened by 3:54 p.m. but highway patrol did not have an exact time for when I-76 was cleared. Dispatch said the trailer becoming detached did not result in any crash or property damage and that no injuries or other crashes stemming from the blockage have been reported.
