Charles 'Charlie' Brooks

Charles 'Charlie' Brooks, 69, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 surrounded by the love of family and friends. Charlie was born June 7, 1952, in Logan, West Virginia, the oldest child of Otis and Virginia (nee Griffith) Brooks. He graduated from West High School in Cleveland, class of 1970. Charlie was a Cleveland Police Sargent in the first district and retired from there while continuing to run his own company. Charles enjoyed golfing, playing cards, listening to classic rock and most of all enjoyed spending time with close friends and family. A snowbird of the highest order he spent many years in Ponte Vedra Beach golfing at the TPC or here in Ohio at Avon Oaks. He will be remembered by friends and family as a generous man who always went above and beyond to do well by others and doing all he could to make even strangers relax in his company. His giving and boisterous personality will be sorely missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Otis and Virginia and loving wife, Debra Vekas. He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Matt) Meng, Melissa (Dave) Blankenship, Jessica Vekas and Alex (Alli) Vekas; his many grandchildren; his sister, Iris Lynn Acord and numerous nieces and nephews.
