Jane C. Bauman-Laurila

Jane C. Bauman-Laurila, 84, of Rittman, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Akron City Hospital after a period of declining health. She was born September 2, 1936, in Seville to the late Henry and Ruth (Newcomer) Winkler. She married Harold Laurila on October 28, 2000 and was happily married to him until his death in November 2016. Jane grew up on her family farm, graduated from Seville High School in the class of 1954 and received her Bachelor's Degree from Wittenberg University in 1958. She worked as an elementary teacher for schools in the area for many years. She was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and Europe, gardening and caring for her family. She is survived by sons, Jeffrey Bauman of Palmyra, New York, Mark (Michelle) Bauman of Broadview Heights, David (Kelly) Bauman of Knoxville, Tennessee and Chris (Marcie) Bauman of Lewis Center, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her daughter, Melinda Bauman and sisters, Nancy Rohrer and Marilyn Laughner. Friends may call Monday, August 2, 2021, at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Rd., Seville, from 10 to 11 a.m. and services will follow at the church. Burial will take place at the Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Village, 10680 Steiner Rd., Rittman, OH 44270.
