Wadsworth hires two new principals

WADSWORTH — Two new principals were officially hired by the Wadsworth Schools at a special board meeting Friday morning. Vincent Suber was hired as the new high school principal and Sunaina Kelly was hired as the new Franklin Elementary School principal. Suber is filling the shoes of Steve Moore, who served as Wadsworth High School principal for the last eight years. Moore recently became the district's new assistant superintendent following the departure of Gabe Tudor, who took a job as Wooster Schools' superintendent. Suber is coming from his former position as principal at Streestboro Middle School and said during the meeting that he is looking forward to this new opportunity. "I'm excited and my family is excited for the opportunity," Suber said. "I cannot wait to get started working for the school district." Kelly is entering her second stint with the district as she previously spent time as a first grade teacher at both Overlook and Isham elementary schools. She was hired in 2019 as assistant principal at Richfield Elementary School in the Revere Local Schools District. Throughout all that time, Kelly said she kept her "grizzly gear" and hoped that one day she could return to Wadsworth. "Wadsworth feels like home to me and there's no other community like it out there," Kelly said. "I've been in Bay Village, Solon and Revere and Wadsworth is a huge school district but it feels so small. I've built relationships with families and staff there that I don't have anywhere else. I'm thrilled to be back." Kelly is taking over for Roger Havens, who announced at the end of the school year that he was retiring after more than 40 years with the district. Wadsworth Superintendent Andy Hill said he was excited to have Kelly back and have Suber take over at the high school. "We're excited to get them here, have them join the team, meet the employees, students and community and see what they bring from their experiences outside of Wadsworth," Hill said. "It's an exciting time. Both of them, with what they've shown … seem like they'll be great additions to our team and come highly recommended. We feel very fortunate to have them joining us." In other news The board also unanimously passed a resolution sending the proposed combination bond issue and levy to the county auditor's office. This step allows the auditor to confirm the millage in preparation for a levy push. This is the second of three steps needed for the combination issue to appear on the Nov. 2 ballot. The third and final step is to submit the finalized issue to the Medina County Board of Election. Hill said he anticipates that step will be taken at the board's July 23 special meeting.
