Brunswick police arrest suspected car thief Brunswick police said Thursday officers are looking to close multiple car break-in cases with the arrest of a 24-year-old Canton man. Officers were checking the area of the Waite Farms development early Tuesday morning after receiving a report of two suspicious people who were entering vehicles. Officers located one of the suspects as he attempted to evade officers by hiding in a wooded area. The Canton man, whom police have not identified, was located and arrested by officers. An investigation revealed that several vehicles were entered July 5 and 6 in adjoining neighborhoods. According to police, several residents provided door-bell type video footage that linked the captured suspect to multiple thefts from automobiles. Detectives are working to identify the second suspect who was not located. Additional charges are pending. Drug task force receives RecoveryOhio Grant More than two dozen local drug task forces in Ohio will receive RecoveryOhio grant funding to support efforts that disrupt the drug trade and promote substance use awareness, prevention and recovery. A total of $2 million in grants from Gov. Mike DeWine's RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund will be awarded to 27 existing drug task forces to intensify their efforts to identify high-level drug traffickers, dismantle large drug trafficking organizations, interrupt the flow of money and drugs from Mexican cartels and prevent the sale of illegal narcotics to those suffering from substance use disorder. The Medina County Drug Task Force will be awarded $68,800. Northern Medina County chamber social event July 21 The Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance will have an after-hours social hosted at Winking Lizard from 5-8 p.m. July 21 to welcome new members and to network. From 4-5 p.m., Medina County Park District Executive Director Nate Eppink will give a walking tour by Brunswick Lake and will update members on projects happening in Brunswick. Medina Kiwanis social and picnic July 29 Community members interested in joining Kiwanis and Kiwanians are invited to the fifth Thursday all Medina City social and picnic on July 29 at the Medina Creative Therapy Ranch on Lake Road. Road construction updates • Foskett Road, at its intersection with state Route 3, will close July 19 for pavement repairs. Motorists traveling west on Remsen Road to Foskett Road will be detoured from Remsen Road to Route 3 south to Hamlin Road north to Foskett Road. Motorists traveling from Foskett Road to Route 3 will be detoured from Foskett Road to Hamilton Road east to Route 3. The estimated completion date is Aug 7. • Hamlin Road, at its intersection with Route 3, is closed for pavement repairs. Motorists northbound on Route 3 to Hamlin Road will take Route 3 north to Fenn Road west to Huffman Road north to Remsen Road east to Hamlin Road. Motorists traveling from Hamlin Road to Route 3 south will be detoured from Hamlin Road to Remsen Road east to Foskett Road south to Route 3 south.
