Alice Rose Staples

Alice Rose Staples, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Columbia Station. She was born January 7, 1931 to the late Delbert and Grace (Tucker) Scarbrow in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Alice was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who lovingly cared for her daughter, Ellen Sue for over 62 years. Alice loved church and was an active member of Canaan Free Will Baptist Church. She found much joy as part of the congregation. Alice was a partner in the Special Olympics Bowling as well as participated in a regular bowling league. She was an amazing cook and in her house, food was love. She was happiest surrounded by her beloved family. She is survived by children, Debra R. Staples, Terry E. Staples, Larry W. (Tammy) Staples; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren and a lifetime of collected friends. Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Alfred Staples; children, Ellen S. Staples and Delbert R. Staples; parents, Delbert and Grace Scarbrow; brothers, Elbert Scarbrow and David Scarbrow and a sister, Gladys Fesco. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Justice officiating before an interment at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick.
