Thomas P. Moran

Thomas P. Moran, 81, of Strongsville, formerly of Hinckley, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 7, 2021, from a heart attack as family and friends surrounded him and were able to say a final goodbye. He was born October 1, 1939 in Cleveland to William and Irene (nee Lukas) Moran. Tom grew up on Cleveland's West side and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1958. He married Joyce O'Donnell in 1961 and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in June. In 1967 they built their home in Hinckley where they raised their family and welcomed everyone into their home. No one was a stranger- from foster children to foreign exchange students to extended family and friends. While real estate was his lifelong career, people were his business. Tom established Moran Realty in 1967, was President of the Hinckley Chamber of Commerce and the Medina County Board of Realtors. He built Weymouth Farms in Hinckley which included the first solar home in the township. At the age of 70 Tom purchased Kaiser-Gibson Realty in North Royalton which he recently renamed Moran Realty LLC to honor his family name and leave his legacy. Tom valued his family and friends above all else and he enjoyed being surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Tom and Joyce downsized and moved to Strongsville in 2019 where he continued to enjoy his yearly traveling to Florida and had just purchased his newest Jaguar. He also loved being outside in the sun, cutting grass, or planting flowers for Joyce. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Mary 'Joyce' (nee O'Donnell) Moran; his beloved children, Brenda Moran Schaefer (Jim), Patricia Moran (Marva Jones) and Thomas W. Moran (Sheri); his cherished grandchildren, Erin Popa (Claire Corcoran), Megan Popa (Chris Nemes), Shannon Schaefer, Allison Schaefer, Gabriela Moran and Maelie Moran; one great-grandchild, Quinn Nemes; his brother, William P. Moran (Dottie) and his sister, Kathleen J. Moran (Kathy Moran). Tom also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family extends a special thanks to Tom's friend, John Minotis, for his help during Tom's final days. Using best distancing practices, friends and family may call Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Holy Martyrs Church, 3100 Weymouth Rd., Medina, with burial to follow at Hope Memorial Gardens, 2447 Center Rd., Hinckley.
